“The FDI marketplace has been a blessing to Hometeam Ventures and me. The community is introducing the concept of faith-driven investing to a broad audience of the community looking to steward the capital that God has provided, and I am honored to partner with them.
Our experience with the FDI marketplace has been awesome! It has been very fruitful for Hometeam, and there have been great opportunities to stay connected to the people in the community. 40% of our capital raised has come from members of the FDI marketplace, and 10% has come directly from marketplace prompts and introductions. We have tremendous gratitude for the organization.”

Brett didn’t just want to build houses for people in need; he wanted to build entire communities. He started a nonprofit organization called New Story. It’s changing the way disaster relief is done by coming into areas of need and building simple, sustainable communities that include all of life’s necessities. But building a community takes time.
While running the nonprofit, Brett discovered ICON—a construction technologies company, and started a conversation about the potential of 3D printing homes. Would it be possible to have homes built at scale in a replicable model akin to the TV shows where they flip a house in 7 days? Technology developed by ICON made it possible to print a home in a fraction of the time of traditional building methods. Suddenly, what once took hundreds of people and thousands of hours to do was now being done with the click (of a mouse).
Brett started to wonder what other technology was available to make affordable, livable housing more accessible to the masses across the world that were in desperate need.
So, Brett and some colleagues developed Hometeam Ventures in August 2020 to invest in the technologies that would propel this plan forward.
Brett knew and looked up to Henry Kaestner for years as a successful fund manager, and when they launched the new fund, he was one of the first people Brett reached out to.
Quickly, Henry Kaestner & AMDG Capital became a founding LP of the fund, which was a large part of our success and early momentum.
At the end of the year, Henry reached out to let Brett know that they were adding Venture Funds to the FDI marketplace. He suggested Hometeam Ventures take part in the Demo Day in January 2021, and they were excited to do so!
The process alone for joining the FDI marketplace was an excellent practice that pushed them to conceptualize what they do best and who they do it for. Additionally, having that community know their pursuit and hold them accountable to both the business and His kingdom are things they were incredibly grateful for.
