Session 9: Compounding Effect

With our left hand we try to make as much money as we possibly can. And with our right hand, we try to give away just enough to make us feel good about our generosity.

Who out there wants to throw up both hands in frustration because this doesn’t work?

The influence of our capital will resonate throughout eternity because of everything God has done and continues to do. And the ways he changes the world through us will be felt for generations to come. We get to enjoy it all, but only if we pursue close community with God.

Discuss these 5 questions:

  1. If we’re looking to take our light into dark places, should we be investing less in rooms where there’s already light?

  2. Is concessionary or patient capital a “bad investment”?

  3. What excuses do we use to keep from truly pursuing Faith Driven Investing? What is our greatest barrier (pride, greed, envy, etc.) we need to surrender to God?

  4. In what ways do we judge others for their inaction while at the same time justifying our own willingness to follow the easier path?

  5. In what ways do we pay lip service to God, saying it’s all about him, when in fact our actions scream just the opposite?

3 Ideas to Explore the Mark Further

There’s no limit to the ways you can explore the Marks of a Faith Driven Investor. What we provide below are five ideas we think might lead each one of us to an even greater understanding of our identity in Christ.

  1. Consider: The influence of our capital as Faith Driven Investors has the potential to resonate throughout eternity. Not because of anything we do but because of everything God has done and continues to do. And the ways he changes the world through us will have the potential to be felt for generations to come. If we don’t own anything, then we can’t earn anything. And if we can’t earn anything, then we can’t lose anything. This is the awesome promise of the gospel. That while nothing is ours and we deserve nothing more than death, God makes everything his and that includes you. And so we get everything. We are co-heirs with Jesus. How does that impact you as a person and an investor?

  2. Act Differently: Accelerate your journey through the accountability and encouragement of ongoing community. Consider joining an Angel Network like Ambassadors Impact Network or BeyondAngels, or become part of an ongoing monthly Faith Driven Investor Group

  3. Learn From Others: Visit  faithdriveninvestor.org to learn more or join the conversation by listening to our weekly  Faith Driven Investor Podcast.
