Viewing Investments
As Partnerships
TEAMING UP WITH HUMILITY
Entrepreneurs are building products or services to serve their customers. Investors ultimately want a return on their investment. When our relationships are based on the value of the transaction, it is likely at some point that the entrepreneur and investor will be driven by different goals from that transaction.
There is a better way for entrepreneurs and investors to be in partnership with one another. And it takes both to come in with a dose of humility. Are we willing to learn and understand from one another? Can we truthfully believe that we are actually better together that we are going our own way?
When we deeply respect each other’s roles, we unite when challenges arise, we understand each other’s expectations and needs, we openly keep each other accountable, and we genuinely care about each other—all with the intent to move an important mission forward with deep conviction.
We strive for financial wins and societal impact, but we both know that God has a greater purpose beyond our own understanding: redemption and love. That is what's going to make it worth pursuing. A functional entrepreneur-investor relationship is built with these two purposes driving every conversation, every decision, every idea. That's when we can build something rooted in our greatest calling.
USING SCRIPTURE AS OUR GUIDE
Luke 10:27 — And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
Romans 13:8 — Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Galatians 5:14 — For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
