Bio:

Mike Asem is a passionate entrepreneur, investor and startup advisor. Today he spends most of his time investing in startups as a part of M25, a Chicago-based venture capital firm focused on seed stage investments in tech startups headquartered in the Midwest.

Mike also serves as a Board Member with PicDiversity, a non-profit that exists to provide teachers with photos that mirror the diversity of their students.

Outside of his time with M25 and PicDiversity, Mike advises startup company founders, serves at Soul City Church, and mentors college student entrepreneurs at various universities including his alma mater, Purdue. 

Life:

Mike resides in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Erikka. They are active members of Soul City Church in Chicago.

Mr. Humphrey is the co-founder (1997) and Managing Director of Tanglewood Investments, a private equity firm focused on “hands-on” turnaround investing of global manfacturing companies. He serves on the board of several faith-based ministries.

As CEO of Sovereign Financial, Mike is committed to leading his associates and clients along The Sovereign Way. Mike co-founded the firm in 2017 after working with Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor. His previous experience includes working as the administrator and stewardship pastor of a large church in South Carolina, where he handled the business functions of the church along with his pastoral duties. In addition, Mike is a pioneer and leader in Values Based Investing (VBI), which is an investment philosophy that focuses on investing according to your values and leads to human flourishing. He also worked as a vice president of Stewardship Partners Investment Counsel and as Regional Director of Broker Relations at the Timothy Plan mutual funds. Both firms specialized in VBI, also known as Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI), and helped Mike to develop the foundational principles for The Sovereign Way.

Mike studied at Central Michigan University, where he graduated cum laude with a B.S in Business Administration with a Finance major and a concentration in Investments. After continuing his education at Central Michigan in the MBA program, he went to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated with a Master of Divinity in biblical languages. Mike concurrently pursued the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation which he earned in 2006. Mike is also a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®). In 2019, he became a Colson Fellow of the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. His educational pursuits have been focused on the theological and practical foundations of biblical stewardship which has led to founding of Sovereign Financial.

Mike is married to Hope, and they have 10 children (yes, 10!) and a pot-bellied pig named Kevin Bacon. They live on a small farm in South Carolina and are proud to call the Upstate their home. Mike also enjoys being one of the pastors of Greenville Community Church in downtown Greenville, SC. The church is a small family of faith that is focused on sharing the beauty and truth of the gospel with a lost and hurting world. In addition, Mike serves his community by serving on the boards of several local ministries and teaching Personal Financial Management as an adjunct professor to students at North Greenville University.

Matt Farmer

Bio:

Matt joined NCF in 2019 as vice president of NCF Heartland in Overland Park, Kansas. He leads a regional effort with a strategic emphasis on the Kansas City metro area. “I build relationships with new and existing givers, connecting them with the larger giving community and increasing awareness on NCF’s wise and innovative giving strategies,” he said.

Prior to NCF, Matt was director of operations for five years at The Hope Center, a comprehensive community development organization in east Kansas City, Missouri. While there, he spearheaded real estate and economic development initiatives and oversaw day-to-day activities.

Matt is a lifelong learner. He’s an MBA graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds a master of divinity degree from Denver Seminary and a bachelor of science degree in social sciences from the U.S. Air Force Academy, followed by 12 years of service in the U.S. Air Force.

Combining his passion for the Lord and his love of sports, Matt is a chaplain with Baseball Chapel, an international ministry recognized by Major and Minor League Baseball. He serves as the chaplain leader for the Kansas City Royals. His sports career also includes a two-year stint as a receiver and punt returner for the New York Jets.

Life:

He and his wife, Jenna, live in Kansas City, Missouri, with their three boys. The Farmers operate a small business focused on providing quality, customer-focused housing in Kansas City’s east side.

Matt Glass is an entrepreneur and humanitarian. Matt is the founder of Glass Financial Group and K&S Media. Glass Financial Group focuses on sound financial solutions in the Greenville, S.C area, while K&S Media strives to be an outlet for practical steps in establishing the Kingdom in the marketplace. As for Matt’s humanitarian efforts, he previously founded Fully Persuaded, a nonprofit ministry that focused on going outside the walls of the church and serving the people of the community. Matt currently sits on the board of SWITCH, a nonprofit, anti-human trafficking organization that is making a difference in the upstate of South Carolina. Matt also is blessed with his most important focus, which is spending time with his wife Natalie and two daughters, Lexie and Lennon.
